A call for proposals from the RITICS programme was launched on 29 June 2018. The NCSC in collaboration with RITICS invited proposals from academic researchers into relevant research challenges.
Each project could gain funding of up to £400,000 over up to 16 months. The deadline for receipt of proposals was 31 August 2018. Applicants were based in institutions eligible for EPSRC funding.
The main topics for research involved a series of challenges encompassing safety and security, autonomous systems, incident response and forensics, cyber controls and supply chain.

Each project could gain funding of £500,000 over up to two years to research the impact of the EU directive on the security of Networks and Information Systems (known as the NIS Directive).
